Reports of several attacks in Southern & Central Somalia
Mogadishu (Harar24) – As Djiboutian troops were patrolling the outskirts of the turbulent town of Beledweyne, they fell into an ambush laid by Al-Shabaab fighters.
According to reports the Djiboutian troops were patrolling the area when Al-Shabaab fighters opened fire on them, the casualties of the ambush however remain unknown.
The city of Beledweyne has lately seen an increase in violence as fighters belonging to the Al-Shabaab movement have repeatedly carried out attacks in the central Somali city.
Today’s attack follows a series of attacks carried out by Al-Shabaab last night against AMISOM forces. Last night in particular, several attacks against AMISOM forces were staged in the Lower Shabelle region, including Shalambod and Lafole.
While on the other hand in Tabto, the Lower Jubba region, an ambush was laid out for the KDF. Also in the Lower Jubba region an armored personal carrier was destroyed through the use of an IED which lead to the death and injuries of several Jubba Interim Administration troops.
Al-Shabaab has lately been threatening to step up their attacks around Somalia, and it seems as though they have been living up to their word, for now.
