BREAKING: Huge losses feared as garage & petrol station in Mogadishu catches fire
Mogadishu (Harar24) – A huge fire is reported to have erupted in a large garage that stores new imported cars and petrol in the KM4 area of Mogadishu. The fire further has escalated further and it’s feared that the fire will spread to other business in the area and cause huge losses.
The exact losses and damages caused by the fire are unknown, but according to our correspondent an estimate of three hundred cars were stored at the time the fire erupted. No losses of human lives or injuries were reported.
The KM4 area of Mogadishu is one of the most busiest and populated areas of Mogadishu and home to many business and shops. The exact causes of the fire are unknown, however according to a reporter who works for one the local radio stations, an electrical store adjacent to the garage is where the fire started after some items caught fire, it spread to the garage.
The fire brigades provided by the struggling Somali federal government is relatively inexperienced and its effectiveness mirrors the effectiveness of the government. According to witness the fire brigades have arrived at the scene, but have been unable to douse the fire so far. “Every attempt so far has failed, the fire just keeps growing more” an eyewitness told Harar24 over the phone.
