Somali MP killed after a bomb planted under his car exploded inside the Presidential Palace

Mogadishu (Harar24) – Somali lawmaker and MP Mohamed Warsame was killed in a car bombing today as he went inside the presidential palace compound in Mogadishu.

 

According to MP Sidow Abadir the bomb that was planted inside his car killed him after entering the presidential palace while another former MP was injured. The MP did not die instantly, but was rushed to Madina Hospital where he died.

 

Witnesses told Harar24 that Mohamed Warsame was killed after leaving the Friday prayers in the afternoon, when he entered the vicinity of the compound the car exploded leaving him dead. “The car exploded as he went inside the area surrounding the presidential palace, we all run for cover after hearing the explosion”  a bystander said.

 

According to sources close to Warsame, he was heading to meet Prime Minister Shirdon with whom he had good relations. He was vehemently opposed to the motion which sought the removal of Shirdon from his post as Prime Minister and he was known for being against corruption. The attack also lead to the injury of former MP Amina Mohamed.

 

A lot of speculation is revolving around the attack , however no one has claimed responsibility yet.
