KDF bases in Kismayo Airport attacked amid civilian deaths in the city
Mogadishu (Harar24) – It was a long night in the city of Kismayo for both the KDF and Al-Shabaab as the latter attacked the city’s now defunct airport.
Kismayo which is located in the Lower Jubba province has seen a lot of violence since the past year after Kenyan troops pushed Al-Shabaab out of the city.
The KDF have taken the airport in the city as military base and it has since seen some of the worst shelling and attacks.
The exact number of casualties caused by the fighting is not known but residents say they believe there were casualties in last night’s attack.
This attack comes after top intelligence officer was assassinated in the city two nights ago by unknown gunmen prompting the interim administration security forces to carry out an operation that cost the lives of at least 3 civilians.
On top of that several civilians including well known business men in the city have been killed in mysterious circumstances this week, their bodies were found dumped at the beach.
Resident who spoke to Harar24 said they suspected the interim administration to be behind these latest killings and accused them of eliminating those thought to be opposed to the administration.
