Explosion in Bosaso leaves 1 dead & 3 injured.
Mogadishu (Harar24) – Two explosions believed to have been caused by hand grenades were reported last night from the coastal city of Bosaso.
The attack which occurred somewhere between 8pm and 9pm is believed to have been carried out by members belonging to Al-Shabaab, who have recently been stepping up their attacks in the autonomous region of Puntland. Earlier this month Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the explosion in Bosaso which left ten people dead, they claimed they were targeting members of military company Saracen. Around a month ago Al-Shabaab also attacked the central prison of Bosaso, not too long after that in a separate incident, they also attacked police stations.
One of the explosions last night occurred at Hotel Roble, situated in the heart of Bosaso. The grenade which claimed the life of one person and left three other injured is believed to have been hurled into the hotel’s lounge where the casualties were passing time. Bashir Isma’il, a top prosecutor from the region and Mahmud Ad’ed were said to be among the injured.
Residents in Bosaso and eyewitnesses claimed that after the explosions occurred security forces started firing bullets, although it’s unknown who or what they were firing at.
