Three Syrian doctors killed by men wearing Military Uniform near Mogadishu
Mogadishu (Harar24) – A vehicle carrying foreign medical staff was attacked by men believed to belong to the Somali military.
The vehicle was travelling on the outskirts of Mogadishu, in area known as Sinka dher when the car was stopped at a checkpoint. According to eyewitnesses a heated conversation took place between the driver and the men manning the checkpoint, which ended in the men opening fire at the vehicle. Four doctors believed to be working for the Fiqi Hospital in Mogadishu were killed instantly, three of whom are believed to be Syrian nationals, while the fourth is said to be a Somali national. The driver and armed guard were also killed in the attack, while two other doctors were injured, one of Somali national and a foreigner also believed to be Syrian. According to witnesses all the dead and injured were rushed to Madina Hospital in Mogadishu.
The attack has been confirmed by officials within the government, but no comments were made regarding the circumstances of the attack yet.
The names and complete identities of the doctors are still unknown, but are believed to be released shortly after an investigation into the attack.
