Two foreign nationals killed in Galka’yo by gunman
Mogadishu (Harar24) – Two foreign nationals have been killed in Puntland as a gunman opened fire on them unexpectedly.
The attack is reported to have occurred at least two hours ago according to several sources as the two men sat in the hall of Galka’yo’s airport when a gunman opened fire on them killing one victim on the spot while the other died while being rushed to a hospital.
Not much information is known about the two victims except that they were working with the UN as consultants, with one of the victims being a British national while the other’s nationality is disputed, however many sources suggest the individual may have been French. According to eyewitness to gunman is believed to have been working with the airport security and is now in custody, his motives for the killings remain unknown yet.
Today’s killings in Galka’yo coincided with a scheduled visit by the Puntland president Abdiweli, where residents have been complaining of deteriorating state of security.
Puntland has a regrettable history as being a place where foreign nationals have often been killed or abducted.
