Barre Hirale condemns PM’s visit to Jubbaland & vows to continue fighting

Mogadishu (Harar24) – As the Somali prime minister visits Kismayo amidst unrest and tribal tensions in the city, former defense minister and current militia leader Barre Aden Shire or more commonly known as Barre Hirale, sent a message condemning the PM’s visit to the Jubbaland administration.

In an interview with local media outlets Hirale said that the PM’s visit wouldn’t change anything and they would continue their fight against the Jubbaland administration, which he deems as illegitimate. “We don’t recognize the Jubbaland administration and will never do so, negotiation is not an option” said the militia leader Hirale.

He also accused the Jubbaland administration of killing civillians for no other reason but that they belonged to clans opposed to the Jubbaland administration. “I further tell you that our people in Kismayo inform us their atrocities against civilians opposed to them, whether it’s killing, looting or raping” said Barre Hirale. The militia leader vowed to continue fighting until Kismayo would be under their control. “We won’t stop the fight until we takeover Kismayo, it’s very unfortunate that the prime minister decided to visit Kismayo at this time” he said.

Bare Hirale is believe to be based not too far from the outskirts of the city after he & his militia were ousted from the city last year in battle with Ahmed Madobe who was aided by the KDF. However, Hirale loyalists and elders from his tribe vowed to continue their struggle against that which they call “injustice”.
