Al-Shabaab vows to keep its blockade on Ethiopian troops in Central Somalia

Mogadishu (Harar24)-Fierce fighting has erupted in the town of El-Bur in Central Somalia last night as Al-Shabaab fighters attacked Ethiopian troops for the second time this week while the city is still under siege by the group.

While giving an interview to the pro-Shabaab radio station Al-Andalus, Al-Shabaab’s appointed governor of Galgadud, Sheikh Hasan Ya’qub spoke about how they have successfully kept the Ethiopian troops in El-Bur under blockade for more than a month.

“Since the Ethiopian crusaders invaded the town of El-Bur we have besieged the town as all the Muslims migrated from there.” Said Hasan Ya’qub “No food, oil or anything else went in to the town since the enemy came in and if they need to get these things they have to sacrifice men because we are waiting  for them just outside the tow” added the governor.

Hasan Ya’qub also vowed that they will continue their siege on the town until they force the Ethiopian troops out.”With the help of Allah we will continue our siege on the town as long as the enemy is present and will force them to flee from El-Bur” he said.

The group has lost several major cities since the start of an Ethiopian led AMISOM operation, but the group have since increased their deadly guerrilla attacks while successfully keeping the towns they withdrew under blockade.
