Somalia: Al-Shabaab recruits Somali youth recently deported from Kenya

Mogadishu, (Harar24)- Somalia’s Al-Qaida linked group Al-Shabaab have reportedly recruited more than 20 Somali Youth who were part of hundreds of Somali refugees deported from Kenya.

According to the reports the group has taken the youth to a military training camp in Southern Somalia, where they were given inspirational speeches by some of the groups senior leaders, including the well-known Al-Shabaab preacher, Sheikh Fuad Shongole.

The leaders told the youth to take revenge from the Kenyan government, “The Kenyan Government humiliated you, by raping your mothers and sisters and looting your properties, now it’s your time to take revenge from those infidels, and they are not far away from here.” Fuad shongole told the youth.

Al-Shabaab are known to have recruited hundreds of Somali and Foreign Muslim youth,  including  some western nationals,  and many analysts believe that the Islamist  group are now taking advantage from a “golden opportunity” presented to them by the Kenyan government after its crackdown against Somalis in Kenya and deportation of hundreds of Somali refugees from Kenya.
