Mogadishu (Harar24) – In another attack amidst a string of assassinations of former Somali officials, former deputy commissioner for Mogadishu’s Hamarjajab district Farah Jimale “Rangers”, was killed after an IED was fitted to his car which detonated yesterday afternoon while passing by the Hamarweyne district.

The explosion caused Farah Rangers severe injuries who was then rushed to hospital where he was succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Mogadishu has been witnessing a series of attacks aimed at officials and former officials who are being targeted through car explosions and assassinations by Al-Shabaab, who warned that they’ll kill each and every former Mogadishu official. “All former officials will be punished as retaliation for the crimes committed against the public while in office” threatened Al-Shabaab’s appointed governor for Mogadishu, Sheikh Ali Jabal.

The attack came after another attack on the same day, targeting the deputy commissioner for the Huriwa district, Abshir Karan, who managed to escape after being targeted in a bomb attack in the Karan district.

Earlier this month the former secretary for Mogadishu’s local administration, Abdikafi Hilowle Osman, was killed in similar attack in which Mr. Rangers was killed in after the bomb fitted to his car was detonated near the KM-4 junction in Mogadishu, killing him and four of his guards.
