2nd prominent Somali lawmaker assassinated in Mogadishu in less than 2 weeks
Mogadishu (Harar24)- In yet another high profile killing today in Mogadishu, gunmen armed with pistols shot dead prominent Somali member of parliament, Adan Nur Madeer, in the capital city, officials and relatives confirmed .
Adan Madeer who was served as the state minister and the current head of the parliament’s financial committee, was assassinated as he was about to enter his house in Mogadishu’s Hamarweyne district by men armed with pistols who then escaped the area without any detection.
“Two men armed with pistols shot dead the MP as he was about to enter the house” said an eyewitness nearby the scene “He instantly died in the spot after receiving several shots to his upper body” she added.
The much feared militant group Al-Shabaab quickly claimed responsibility of the killing. “We killed an apostate Somali lawmaker who allowed and was supportive of foreign crusading invasion of Somalia” said their military spokesman Abu Mus’ab Abdulaziz, who threatened of further attacks if “the lawmakers didn’t repent”.
The killing of the Somali lawmaker comes less than two weeks after the group assassinated another high profile Somali lawmaker and musician Saado Ali Warsame and amounts to the fifth killed lawmaker so far this year, while the militants vow to keep up its killing of the Somali officials whom they deem as “apostates and legitimate targets”.
