Director of Somali intelligence sacked amidst allegations of viciousness

Mogadishu (Harar24) – In an unscheduled cabinet meeting led by the Somali Prime Minister, the sacking of the director of Somali intelligence and security agencies was announced, who only held his position for a mere two months, due to “incompetence”.
The sacking of Abdullahi Mohamed Ali known as Sanbalolshe, who was the director of the Somali intelligence and also served as the former Somali ambassador to the United Kingdom, was read out by the Somali government’s spokesman, Ridwan Haji Abdiweli, in a statement read to the media after the cabinet meeting.
“The Somali cabinet hereby announces the removal of Abdullahi Mohamed Ali from serving as the director of NISA, which has been temporarily handed over to his deputy” said Ridwan Haji Abdiweli. He further added that he was sacked for being “incompetent”.
The sacking of Abdullahi Mohamed Ali comes amidst a sense of commotion in the Somali capital after the mysterious killings of people accused of being Al-Shabaab members, the arrest of journalists, opposition leaders and the closure of popular radio stations, all accused of being perpetrated by the Somali intelligence headed then by Abdullahi Ali. It’s further said that he personally threatened to arrest some parliament members after they demanded an explanation for the intelligence crackdown on independent radio stations, it’s unknown yet if these allegations played part in his dismissal.
