Islamist militants overrun Kenya military base in Southern Somalia as dozens feared dead

Islamist militants overrun Kenya military base in Southern Somalia as dozens feared dead

Mogadishu (Harar24) Al-Shabaab fighters attacked  Kenyan troops base in southern Somalia early on Friday, the Islamist group and residents tell the media, with unconfirmed reports that dozens of KDF soldiers were killed. The base is located in the town of El-Adde close to the Kenyan border.

The fighters targeted the gates of the base in El-Adde town near the Kenyan border,  with car bomb, before their fighters burst inside.

Pro Al-Shabaab radio Andalus says their fighters have completely taking over the base and dozens of Kenyan troops were killed while taken

However Somali military spokesman  who spoke with the media said fighting was still continuing.

Residents in the town said they could hear heavy gunfire while seeing hundreds of islamist fighters with black flags flocking to the area.
