(Kismayo) A roadside bomb hits an AMISOM convoy travelling on in the city of Kismayo. The Amisom forces belonging to Kenya were targeted this morning in a roadside bomb believed to be planted by Al-shabab.
Eye witnesses are reporting that the roadside bomb targeted an AMISOM convoy carrying troops from the KDF while travelling in the Afmadow neighborhood .
“We saw the armored vehicles coming toward us as we were drinking tea, then we heard a heavy explosion” one witness told Harar24 News over the phone “then smoke rose to the sky and everyone fled as KDF soldiers started shooting” added the witness .
Reports that we are getting from Kismayo indicates to us that there are casualties amongst the KDF forces in the convoy, but Harar24 cannot confirm how much casualties there are in today’s roadside bomb attack in Kismayo.
This comes amidst reports that the leader of the Jubba interim administration in Somalia Ahmed Madobe informs reporters that his administration will heighten security in the city.
Since taking control of Kismayo a year ago thee KDF have been facing almost daily attacks from forces belonging to Al-shabaab.
