5 people killed as KDF forces open fire on civilians in Kismayo

Kismayo (Harar24) – Details regarding yesterday’s roadside bomb against KDF forces in Afmadow Neighborood in Kismayo are coming out. At least 7 people were killed 5 of them being civilians as KDF forces opened fire on civilians who were near the bomb blast site.

 

According to eyewitnesses the explosion occurred at the town’s Via Afmadow area when an armored vehicle used by the KDF forces was hit by an IED explosion , around 11:00 a.m local time on Thursday resulting the killing of 2 KDF forces.

 

“The explosion occurred when the vehicle passed through the main street that crosses Via Afmadow, we saw huge flames as the people near ran away.” One resident told Harar24

 

Kismayo security officials said the forces begun search operation after the explosion in order to arrest members of Al Shabab believed to be behind the explosion.

 

Locals said the KDF and security forces of the Jubba administration opened fire against civilians living nearby houses killing four men and wounding six others.

 

Meanwhile businesses in Via Afmadow village have been locked down on Thursday due to residents fearing looting on their shops, after the Jubba administration security forces launched search operation in the area.
