Reporter Tima’adde dies of wounds
Tima’ade who used to work for Universal TV was shot a total of six times five days ago, with some of the wounds being in his upper body and some in his neck. He was rushed to hospital where he remained until he passed way. According to some reports his father made several requests to the government for him to be transferred to a hospital outside Somalia where he could receive effective and better treatment.
The death of Tima’ade comes at a complicated time for media personnel in Somalia. Tima’ade is the seventh journalist to be killed this year in Somalia, making Somalia one of the worst places for journalists to operate. The death of Tima’ade also coincided with the eviction of Shabelle Media Network from their headquarters by security forces. Shabelle, who already witnessed many of its workers losing their lives, claim that the lives of their staff will be in danger if they relocate elsewhere.
Tima’ade was killed by unknown gunmen who still remain at large and nobody has claimed responsibility for his killing.
