Suspected Al-shabab militants ambush Liyuu police inside Ethiopia
The ambush occurred today noontime near Waaqsen in Afdheer Province inside Ethiopia. According to incoming reports, a convoy belonging to the Liyuu police came under intense fire as they were making their way to Baarey in Afdheer province.
According to the sources, 4 Ethiopian soldiers who are regionally known as the “Liyuu Police” were killed in the attack and one Military vehicle damaged.
The ambush was carried out by fighters suspected to be from the Al-Shabaab movement, who’ve been fighting Ethiopian forces for the past few years. This attack comes after a previous attack carried out by ONLF movement against the Liyuu police few days ago inside the Ogaden region.
Since 2005, Ethiopia government isolated Ogaden region from the World, Ethiopia imposed a ban all international aid and media organizations in Ogaden despite some are operating under the permit of intelligence surveillances.
Attacks against the Liyuu police who are very unpopular inside the Somali Community in Ethiopia have increased over the past months , The Liyuu police have been accused of committing crimes and atrocities against humanity inside the Ogaden region.
